I just watched this volume 2 nights ago. I'm still reeling from those "bombshells" that Key referred to. The RUC girls were definitely brought to the forefront. It's almost like the show has switched it's polarity...so to speak, which is not a bad thing. I actually wanted the RUC to have more screen time.

Of course, after watching this volume, I'm reminded of an old saying: "Be carefull of what you wish for." Also, the very last scene of ep.18 gave me the feeling of "I want the next volume right now!" more than any other show in recent memory Anime dazed

A truly excellent volume and I'm a bit surprised by the grades given after a seemingly glowing review.

This is a hard series to review without giving away spoilers. I will agree that the series has gotten much better since the first volume. The relationship between Roy and Solty still reminds me of James Links and Dolores from the underrated Zone of the Enders. Since this relation is in the heart of Solty Rei, I find the series very enjoyable to the older fan.

I'm still a bit mystified by Funimations episode count. Three episodes per disc is really not their style (at least since Blue Gender) and the video quality of the first DVD took a hit from the compression. Six DVDs with four episodes would have been ideal.
