Taiwan to Host 'Naruto Run 2016' Road Race Event
posted on by Karen Ressler
Cosplayers appeared in Taipei, Taiwan on Monday to advertise the "Naruto Run 2016" event, a 5-10km road race with a "ninja trial" theme. So far there are two runs planned: first in Taipei on July 16-17 and then in Kaohsiung on October 30. Participants in Taipei can run 5km on both days for a total of 10km, while runners in Kaohsiung can choose whether to aim for 5km or 10km.
Runners will receive a t-shirt, towel, "weapons pouch" (bag), Konoha headband, a cloth with their runner number, and a certificate and metal for finishing.
In addition, the run will sell exclusive merchandise, such as a Naruto-shaped flash drive, bluetooth speakers, Yondaime cloak towel, commemorative cards, and a baseball hat.
Taiwan previously held a One Piece Run that featured obstacles inspired by events in the story.
Participants are presumably not expected to complete the Naruto road race while leaning forward with their arms held out behind them, but it's also presumably not against the rules.
