This year's 24th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine revealed on Friday that Kamui Fujiwara's Dragon Quest Retsuden: Roto no Monshō - Monshō o Tsugumono-tachi e (Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto: To the Children who inherit the Emblem) manga will end in the magazine's second 2020 issue, which will ship on January 4. The manga has two remaining chapters.
The magazine had teased in its 23rd issue on November 15 that the manga was approaching its climax. Fujiwara launched the manga in December 2004 in Young Gangan. Jun Eishima wrote the story for the first four volumes, and Takashi Uemura took over the story afterward. Yuji Horii is credited with editorial supervision. Square Enix published the manga's 33rd volume on August 24.
The manga serves as a sequel to the Dragon Quest Saga: Emblem of Roto manga, which ran for 21 volumes from 1991 to 1997.
The original Dragon Quest Saga: Emblem of Roto manga inspired a 45-minute anime film in 1996. The film was never released in North America.
